Specialist Appointment = Booked!

When I took Matthew and Kayla for their 6-month immunizations I asked Dr. Shah about Matthew's head shape. (If you recall, at their 2-month appointment Dr. Shah told us not to worry about it and that his head would correct itself by the time he's 6 months old). Well, he's 6 months old and still has an oddly shaped head. Dr. Shah said he thought it would still correct itself, but would refer Matthew to a specialist just in case. Our appointment is for October 25th with Dr. Bhui.

6 Months Old!

Matthew

Weight: 15 lb 4 oz

Likes:
  • Having silly songs sung to him. He enjoys it even more if you bounce him around while singing.
  • Eating baby food
  • Playing with his toys - his favourite are his links, his Tigger beanie baby, his mirror toy, and any toy that he can spin
  • Jumping in his jolly jumper - he can jump for an hour easy!
  • Getting undressed - he loves being naked!
  • Splashing in the bath tub
  • Sucking/chewing anything that can be put in his mouth
First time being fed baby food!

Dislikes:
  • Having his shirt put on over his head - he cries EVERY TIME!
Accomplishments:
  • Sitting
  • Finding hands and feet
  • Playing toys with two hands

Clothes Size:
  • Typically 3-6 months, but some 6-9 months (sleepers)
  • Huggies/Pampers size 2

Kayla

Weight: 16 lb

Likes:
  • Rough-housing with Daddy
  • Having funny faces made at her
  • Playing toys - her favourite are Matthew's blue dog (the ears crinkle when you grab it, and the dog's ears are longer than her cat's ears and so they are more fun to chew), her cloth caterpillar book (the last page has butterfly wings out of the fabric that crinkles), and her duck rattle.
  • Standing up to play toys - why sit when you can stand?
  • Splashing in the bath tub
  • Sucking/chewing anything that can be put in her mouth
  • Sleeping on her side, often with her Precious Moments beanie baby from Auntie Courtney
  • People-watching.
First time being fed baby food!

Dislikes:
  • Eating baby food
  • Having her shirt put on over her head - she cries EVERY TIME!
  • Being forced to have tummy time (likely because she feels restricted to what she can do - see next point)
  • Being a baby. Kayla wants to grow up and be able to do everything. She is often frustrated when she can't figure out how to do something.

Accomplishments:
  • Rolling over from front to back, and back to front
  • Sitting
  • Finding hands and feet
  • Playing toys with two hands
  • Starting to use her knees

Clothes Size:
  • Typically 3-6 months, but some 6-9 months (sleepers)
  • Huggies/Pampers size 2

Happy 1/2 Year Birthday, Matthew and Kayla!
We couldn't imagine life without you guys!

The Beginning of September

Kayla has become quite the smiler!

Cradle cap, again! And now too...it's on my to-do list for the week (!). At least Matthew has hair to cover it!

But I couldn't sleep (again!). He was in such a cute mood :)

To my older readers: remember this toy? Matthew and Kayla received it from a family in our church that also had twins. This was Kayla's first time playing with it.

Matthew watching (he hadn't mastered sitting yet at this point).

Labour Day:
Kayla watched Grandpa trim our front hedge and enjoyed playing with a piece.

Grandpa is so easily distracted from his work!

Time to cool off with a popsicle. Yes, for those wondering, it's a breast-milk popsicle. And yes, they love it (although the majority of my family thinks it's absolutely repulsive)! I think it's a great idea...I was inspired by the breast milk ice cream idea from MckMama.

Kayla likes to hold the popsicle herself.

Cooling off (again!) with a swim in a rubbermaid bin on the deck.

I think they were in it for about an hour!

Matthew's turn at the old toy!

And Kayla's turn to watch.

Kayla sitting in her newly-assembled high chair. They drown in it!

Sitting on the kitchen table, watching Daddy eat dinner.

What a stud.

Playing toys together.

Matthew woke up from his nap, drank a bottle, and fell asleep again. I cherished the moment and sat like this for 45 minutes before Jon came home from work. He took the picture at my request, and then asked if "this is what I did all day long." If only taking care of twins was that easy. :)

Cutie pie.

Cuddling, twin-style. (Sorry for the blurry picture - Jon's fault!)

Enjoying a swim in the pool.

Karate boy. Hiiiii ya!

I gave Kayla my "boy-doll" to play with. She loved the single tuft of hair he has on his head. (Side note: He was my birthday gift when I turned 8. My mom took me shopping and I was allowed to choose whichever doll I wanted. I took the only boy doll they had and named him 'Jonathan', after Jonathan Jansen, my long-time elementary school crush).

The Last of August

Cuddles while watching a movie.

First time in the swing.

Daddy paused his NHL 2011 Xbox game to play with us! Hopefully he still plays with us even though he gets his NHL 2012 game today!

Matthew is affectionately called "Goofy Boy" by Jon and I. He's hilarious!

Look who's growing up!

Matthew, Kayla, and their buddy (and future boyfriend?) Jake Voros.

Watching Daddy clean the tent. That was his job after all of our camping was done.

Playing toys.

Fighting over toys. Already. Usually initiated by Kayla. She always wants what Matthew is playing with.

Before-bed cuddles. Notice in the next picture Matthew is wearing a different pajama top - that's not uncommon. He is SUCH A DROOLER that I don't want to put him to bed with a wet shirt.

"I can't sleep, Mom" cuddles.

First time having water on the tramp, with second-cousins Taylor and Payton.

Matthew's Sitting!

That's right! I can officially say that he's sitting now! This is big news in our house!

I'm looking forward to seeing if his head shape improves as he will be spending far less time laying down now. *Fingers crossed*
