And we're off! We managed to leave the house at 7:30am. Not bad, considering myself, Matthew, and Kayla all had showers/baths.
I had never been to Bridal Falls before, so we stopped there on our way. We had sent the stroller along with my parents to Penticton (due to lack of trunk space in our trunk), so we had to carry Matthew and Kayla. I was so tired. Early morning + not in shape = hard climb. Jon laughed at me.
Feeling the lake water for the very first time (That's about as far as I got in all week!). Matthew and Kayla enjoyed having their toes in the wet sand/water.
A few evenings I spent some time with them standing at the edge of the lake. I even let them get their clothes wet :)
As as alternative to the lake, my parents bought a little wading pool for them to play in. Jon enjoyed it too!
She also enjoyed beating up on Matthew.
But I'm so sweet and innocent! I would never wake up multiple times a night screaming, demanding to be fed. Those extra 9 oz a night were completely necessary! GRRR.
The view from our campsite. Thank goodness for my parents' trailer (aka space to take along all of Matthew and Kayla's toys).
I was drinking my glass of water when Kayla grabbed it from me and put it to her mouth. She did quite well drinking from the cup!
What playground doesn't have a swing set?!?! We had to make do with slides instead.
Cuddles for Grandpa. ALWAYS. I don't get it?!?! My dad picks her up and she instantly calms down and falls asleep. Definitely a lifesaver at night!
Having their morning baths outside, on the picnic table. Matthew had the luxury of having a shower in my parents' trailer...out of necessity. He had a massive 'poo-nami'. It was seriously up his back to his armpits. TWO DAYS that week. Gross. I was so tempted to just throw out his shirt, but the dutch-ness in me washed it by hand instead. Gross.
Camping with Grandma and Grandpa = lots of goodies. I think Matthew and Kayla have only ever tried snack foods. Hopefully they won't refuse rice cereal in a few weeks' time!
Naps in the trailer (yay for a/c!). They slept on a blow up mat in the tent because it's too awkward trying to reach into the bassinette in the tent when they're practically at the same height as me. It was cute :)
Each couple is responsible for planning, providing, and cooking dinner one night. Jon and I made spaghetti with garlic cheese toast. Yum.
Playing in her exersaucer at night.
While Jon was having one of his afternoon naps, a neighbouring camper came and painted his toes red.
Look who started sitting while we were there!
Just chilling in Mommy and Daddy's bed one morning. All sweet and innocent. GRR (can you sense the frustration I had that week?)
Hanging out on the beach. I had forgotten to pack their hats (whoops!), and Wal-Mart was all sold out of anything that was cute/would fit, so Matthew and Kayla spent most of the week in the shade (which they probably would have even if they had hats because they're not allowed to wear sunscreen).
Smiles from Matthew.
