Olivia is 10 Months Old!
At ten months old, Olivia weighs 21 lb. She is comfortably wearing size 12-18 month clothes and size 4 shoes.
Olivia is really learning how to walk. Everything is dependent on her mood, though. When she wants to practice, then she will. When she doesn't, then she crumples to the ground so that she can crawl. When she is in the mood then she can easily take five or six well-balanced steps. (June 12 update: She took 23 steps today, from our stairs to the couch in our toy room!)
She has gotten a lot more giggly this past month, which is cute. Tickling her neck/collarbones produces the most giggles.
She never wakes up crying in the morning. When she first wakes up she sits up, and then starts talking. The longer you wait to get her, the more she talks.
Olivia loves her soother, but she really only uses it for falling asleep. When she's not sleeping it's on the counter and it typically only gets used if she's getting grumpy and I'm busy and can't play with her.
She LOVES being outside. If I'm carrying her or walking with her and walk towards the door as if we are going outside, but change directions at the last second she gets angry. And when she gets angry, she screams/screeches.
Olivia does not like the church nursery, and let's everyone know it by crying on-and-off practically the whole time.
I've been weaning Olivia off of formula and onto homogenized milk. Right now, she's at 75% homo / 25% formula. I'll stick with this until the formula I have in stock is gone (a couple weeks), and then she'll be 100% homo.
Olivia's Schedule:
7:15am Awake
8:00am Breakfast (typically yogurt and cheerios)
9:30/10:00am Bottle (6oz) and then nap
10:30/11:00am Awake & Snack
12:00pm Lunch (crackers with cheese whiz, bread)
12:30/1:00pm Bottle (6oz) and then nap
2:30pm Awake & Snack
5:00pm Dinner
7:30pm Bottle (8oz) and then bed
12:30am Bottle (6oz) and straight back to bed

Kid Quotes
I've been trying to write down some of the cute conversations we've been having over the past few months :).
~~~
Matthew and Kayla were shaking tambourines that they had made in Children's Church. I asked them why they had made tambourines, to which they replied, "Because Jesus was at a wedding!" I asked them what had happened at the wedding and they explained that they had run out of wine so Jesus had people put water into jugs and it became wine right away! which they thought was great. I asked them if I could do that, and they said, "No." I asked them if Pastor Tom could do that, and Kayla answered, "No, he's not magic!"
~~~
Matthew and Kayla were sitting at the kitchen table, crafting, when I heard:
Kayla, to Matthew: "Matthew, do you like Nathan?"
Matthew: "Yes"
Kayla: "I don't really. I'm not really a boy."
~ ~ ~
(I didn't pick up on this conversation until mid-way through)
Matthew: "...in your heart, like where Jesus lives."
Kayla: "Did you know God is everywhere?"
Matthew: "Like on the road? Like on the houses?"
Kayla: "Everywhere."
Matthew: "Like on the roof? I can't see him."
Kayla: "Matthew, you're being silly. You can't see God. He's everywhere."
~~~
Matthew, to Kayla: "Mom will be dead before you get married."
~~~
Matthew: "You will have to find a different boy to marry."
Kayla: "You will have to find a different girl to marry."
(Because they are becoming aware that they can't marry each other)
~~~
Kayla: "Can two girls get married?"
Matthew: "No!"
~~~
Kayla, to me: "I only can sleep for like 10 minutes at night. That's why I'm so tired in the morning."
~~~
Matthew, while watching Jon pouring glasses of milk for dinner: "Mom! You're going to have another baby with all that milk!"
Jon: "Do you want Mom to have another baby?"
Matthew: "Yes, cuz I love troubles." (We call Olivia 'Trouble').
~~~
Nathan (upon seeing new hair clips Kayla received): "I want to have long hair."
Me: "Then you would look like a girl!"
Nathan: "I want to be a girl."
Me: "Then Liam (cousin) wouldn't want to play with you because you're a girl."
Nathan thinks about it, and then blurts out excitedly: "I will ask Liam if he wants to be a girl!"
~~~
Matthew, Kayla, and Nathan are all playing outside. Nathan is sitting on a chair and is telling the others what to do.
Nathan: "Do a somersault!" Matthew and Kayla do it.
Nathan: "Climb on the table!" Matthew and Kayla do it.
Nathan: "Go to the sandbox!" Matthew and Kayla do.
When I asked them what they were playing, Matthew said: "Nathan's our minister!"
Camping Trip #1 - Cultus Lake
From May 26 to June 2 we were camping at Thousand Trails in Cultus Lake. Even though it was pouring rain at night, most of the daytime was only spitting and we even saw the sun for a few days! Camping with four kids is busy, but my Mom cooks all the meals and did all the dishes so I really can't complain :). The kids all had a blast!
{Having a bath in Grandma's trailer}
{Learning how to suck from a straw}
{Playing princesses together}
{Biking. Lots and lots of biking. Nathan mastered his balance bike, going down all of the hills and coasting for as long as he could.}
{What a fashion statement! I'm wearing Jon's jacket from high school (he wanted to throw it out the other week but I wouldn't let him because I like to wear it) and my fur-lined faux-crocs from Wal-Mart. So convenient for camping in the rain!}
{Checking out the creek}
{Before-bed stories with Grandpa before he left}
{This little girl just wanted to walk and walk and walk. She would get so upset when you stopped walking with her!}
{Hours and hours were spent in the sandbox}
{Painting rocks they chose from the creek}
{It's extra-fun when your cousins visit for the day!}
{Olivia LOVED the pool. She loved jumping in, and didn't even complain when I let her go fully under the water.}
{This is what swimming with four kids looks like. Nathan liked to swim without his puddle jumpers, too, but I only allowed it once Olivia was out of the pool because the 'shallow' end is 3 feet.}
